Getting some exercise is one of the best things you can do, it energizes you as well as burning calories too, and the great thing is we exercise all the time without realizing it. Even doing something like washing your car is going to be a good little work out and get you sweating and burn some calories, or putting the shopping away, it is all exercise. You can actually do a lot more exercise than you would think in the comfort of your home, or in your local area, you don’t need to pay through the nose to go to the gym or duck out of exercising just because it is raining outside.
Now we will discuss some of my favorite ways to exercise at home:
Strength training: Most people don’t think of it as exercise, but lifting weights burns just as many calories as cardio work. It also tones and shapes your body too. If you want to make good progress then you need a good set of exercises to follow with guidance on how often to do them and what weight to use etc, which is where the Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle guide comes in handy. If you don’t have a plan to follow then you won’t get the maximum benefit out of it and you won’t get the results you want.
To get started all you really need is a set of fixed dumbbells, but if you want to get serious then a workout bench, a set of weights and a few different sized bars is the only option. When you are doing certain exercises like bench press then you will have a bar with a lot of weight on above you, so ideally you should have somebody there who can step in and help when you are tired out and struggle to get the bar back into the holders.
Go for a walk: This is one of my favorite ways to exercise. People see walking as too gentle to have any benefit, but if you walk up a hill or across some fields then you will quickly start to get out of breath so you can see it is actually pushing your body. Although walking is typically an outdoor activity then you can easily make it an indoor one if you use a treadmill. A good electric one will set you back a lot of money, but you don’t need anything that fancy, just get a manual one instead. Normally people don’t like them as they tend to be more fragile and don’t hold up well to the stress when you are jogging on them, but as you will just be walking on it then it is perfect as it takes up less room and often folds away for storage.
Take up dancing: People enjoy having a good dance and rarely see it as a chore like they do with exercise, yet it is actually quite strenuous. If you already know some dance moves then you can just dance in your living room to music, or you can buy a DVD instead which takes you through a dance routine and follow that. Another great way to get dancing is to use a computer game to make it interactive. There are lots of computer games out now which use mats on the floor you dance on, or you have the Wii one which uses the controller to monitor what you do.
